What you, the Christian, need to know to safely navigate through this life and successfully make it to heaven: the Gospel, the Enemy, Yourself.

1. The Gospel – Without the gospel, no-one goes to heaven. Therefore, knowing the gospel is imperative.

2. The Enemy – Knowing (as Christians) who are our enemies, is just as important as identifying our friends. It is also key to not confusing the two. Oftentimes because Christians fail to identify the enemy, they are duped and deluded by them – assuming them to be friends.

3. Yourself – Knowing the gospel and the enemy get us nowhere if we possess bad personal mirrors. We (therefore) must also be aware (and ready to change if necessary) who we are if what we find is more congruent w/the enemy (and their gospel) than the sound/biblical gospel message.

Despite popular belief, the Roman Catholic Church (RC or RCC) is not the direct descendant of the apostolic church, nor was the apostle Peter her first pope. Such thinking is pure myth as there is no evidence of Peter ever going to Rome and the office of “pope” was not established until the Constantine’s empire in the 4th century (1st pope = Damasus, 363- 384). The Roman Catholic Church as she exists today is rather the result of the historical event known as the “Great Schism” which took place in the 11th century. Many of her current (and most damning) doctrines/beliefs are also the product of this much later time in her history. It was because of the RCC’s rampant papal corruption and false doctrine that an attempt was made in the 16th century to reform her (i.e. the Protestant Reformation). Though this event failed, through it the truth of God’s Word and gospel were restored and covenant communities established where biblical Christianity was practiced (i.e. Reformed Churches, “Post tenebras lux” – motto of the PR). From that historical point forward, the RCC has been considered an apostate branch of Christendom – much like that of former OC Israel.  Buzz words associated w/RC: “Hail Mary, full of grace”, “praying the rosary”, “praying to Mary”, “praying to St. ___”, “going to Mass”, “going to confession.”, “transubstantiation”.

After the apostolic period (the time when the apostles were still alive, 1st century), the belief that God was still speaking audibly or that the prophets continued to exist (including the other accompanying sign-gifts) was rejected by the Christian Church as heretical. Those groups practicing such things or embracing those doctrines were likewise condemned (e.g. 2nd century, Montanism/The New Prophecy). This continued to be the position of the Protestant Church until the emergence of the Pentecostal, Charismatic and Third wave movements of early 20th century America (i.e. 1901, Charles Parham, William Seymour and the Azusa Street Revivals). Today, such doctrine/practices are tolerated even by those who disagree signaling a major historical shift. In other words, what claims to be Christianity today is at considerable odds with where Christianity has existed for almost two thousand years. The result of this new persuasion has also had a noticeable effect on the overall population of this country. For example, a 2000 study found that 38.7 percent of the population reported visual, auditory or other hallucinations, including out-of-body experiences. The common buzz-words associated w/this kind of thinking are: “Spirit-filled”, “whole-gospel”, “whole-bible”, “the gifts are for today”, “slain in the Spirit”, “Holy Spirit focused”, “baptism of the Holy Spirit”, “second baptism”, “spirit baptism”, “prayer walks, tearing down the high places and reclaiming the city”, “spiritual warfare”, “binding satan/enemy”, “deliverance from the demon of…”, “reading their mail”, “a word from the Lord for you”, “Continuationist”, “the doctrine of subsequence”.

1.1. Any group/church/religion that claims to be Christian[1], yet deviates from the gospel message (i.e. plan of salvation) established by the Christian Bible is a (CC) (Act 20:28-30).
